Greenpoint Art Circle is a supportive co-operative collective for and by NYC visual creators of all levels and disciplines [including designers, photographers, crafters, sculptors, etc] who seek to reinforce and grow their creative practices, careers, and connections with other creators. This includes emerging, professional, beginning, and “part-time” creators with day-jobs. We meet at monthly check-in meetings where we discuss our creative practices and set intentions to foster accountability. We also connect through fun activities like drawing nights at bars and plan events and projects including group shows, art sales, workshops, volunteering and more. We showcase our members’ work and our activities on our Instagram account where we also repost great local opportunities and arts events.

We strive to be a reciprocal, dynamic and respectful group where all voices are welcome. We seek to be an antidote to an overly judgemental and elitist creative culture and to support one other’s authentic, individual goals as well as to collaborate on group projects and initiatives to benefit all.

Greenpoint Art Circle was founded and is directed by a local woman of color artist-designer in 2019. We operate in a nonprofit capacity via a fiscal sponsorship from the arts advocacy organization Fractured Atlas. Please note that our group is in transition towards functioning as a co-operative and members will be instrumental in building the foundations for this new stage of development. Please visit our Instagram to learn more about us up to now.

What our members are saying

“I was recently selected for an artist residency at Glen Falls House and I’m so thankful for this group. The constant conversations and inspiration around creating work during the pandemic really did help make me more productive and thoughtful, I don’t think I would’ve felt motivated enough to do this without you guys! So thank you everyone!”

Kseniya Baranova

“Being an active member provides for me much meaningful joy and knowledge. There are few demands yet the takeaways are many, from the members and their willingness to share information, ideas and friendship on art matters along with life matters. I’m so much the better since I’ve joined that I really can’t imagine living in Greenpoint and not participating with the group.”
